SAD, FUNNY, TRUE was an installation created for my Senior Undergraduate Thesis Exhibition.
In an era where it’s so easy to be connected and even easier to be detached from those around you, vulnerability in any form should be celebrated. While oversharing on the Internet is usually mocked or detested, I believe that these brave individuals should instead be commended for choosing honesty over beauty. SAD FUNNY TRUE seeks to broaden viewer’s emotional range, change the way we look at what we’d normally scroll past, and encourage people to overshare.
The text on the posters were quotes from things people anonymously submitted to me that is either an overshare of their own or something they’ve seen on social media. Viewers could then either empathize with one of the reaction stickers or write a post it note to comment or overshare.
